SPRING!!  SO MUCH TO DO, SO LITTLE TIME!

Since the start of Spring, I have been busy!  I Love what I do and I Love teaching others about the importance of being conscious of our pollinators.  Many people are accepting the task of learning about our pollinators, both Honey Bees and Native pollinators.  School students, local libraries and beekeepers, just to mention a few, are becoming aware and of what we must do to help our pollinators.  This makes my heart sing!

Spring is also a time of renewal and a time of enjoying the beauty that nature has to offer.  I have gone into my Honey Bee hives and witnessed the explosion of population in them.  I've also observed the Bumble Bees hard at work getting the nectar and pollen that they need for their young and the butterflies are everywhere in my gardens.

Today I took a walk in my gardens to just enjoy their beauty.  Something that I do now and again, but probably not enough!!  I try to have a continual succession of plants in my gardens, not only for the pollinators, but also for my enjoyment.  I try to plant for the pollinators, but I must admit, some of the flowers I plant are just because I love them and they bring me joy.

When you are planting in your gardens, plant something just because YOU Love it!!!

So join me on a walk through my garden and see the flowers & plants that I enjoyed this morning.

Yes, pollinators were enjoying some too.
Picture
Eutrochium purpureum - Joe Pye - still in a container saying ...Plant Me!!!
Joe Pye Weed is a wonderful pollinator plant.  This one is robust and needs to be planted.
Picture
White Dutch Iris - I have a purple version of this too. It's not blooming yet.
I'm not sure if pollinators go for this Iris, but I sure think that they are stunning!
Picture
Purple Bearded Iris - so velvety !
The same for the velvety texture of the Bearded Iris.
Picture
Tradescantia - Spiderwort - food for my Bees, just starting to bloom.
My Honey Bees will visit this Spiderwort once it gets more flowers and/or nothing sweeter is blooming.
Picture
Lunaria annua - Money Plant - reseeds each year
I just love how this Lunaria reseeds itself every year.  It's scattered blooms around my garden make me smile!  The seedpods that look like coins gives it the name "Money Plant".
Picture
Swallowtail Butterfly on Azalea
Butterflies love this Azalea.  I've seen many Yellow Swallowtail butterflies this spring.
Picture
Flowering Kale - Bumble Bees love this!!!
I let my veggies bloom.  When the weather warms most of my winter greens bolt and feed the bee population in my garden.
Picture
Flowering Lettuce
Yes, lettuce will flower!!!

It is now time for me to go to work.  There are plants to be planted, perennials to be divided and many other tasks to be done.

So until next month......Plant something that you LOVE!!
