But not in my yard. I really look forward to the WINTER SOLSTICE every year. December 21st, the Winter Solstice, is the shortest day of the year. That means that every day afterwards, will be longer. Maybe by only a minute or so each day, but over a month or two, that means a longer day. The sun stays in the sky just a little bit longer, giving us more light!
That means that the earth starts to awaken after it's winter's sleep. That means that bulbs start poking their heads above the soil and trees start to show signs of budding out. It means that spring it on it's way!!
The seeds that I have sown in my gardens begin to sprout. My bees come out of the hive more often in search of that blooming dandelion, Hen Bit or Dead Nettle.
When those plants are blooming, the Queen Bee begins to lay more eggs and the colony builds and gets bigger.
Winter Solstice is the beginning of all that is new and bright and lovely!!
I CELEBRATE WINTER SOLSTICE
FOR THE LIGHT
FOR THE EARTH
FOR ALL THINGS OF BEAUTY!!
